A 38-year-old Phoenix man says he was attacked and beaten in downtown Phoenix Saturday because of his sexual orientation. The man posted on Facebook that he was “gay bashed” and “attacked by a mob of 10 people.” He posted a photo of himself with bruises and dried blood all over his face.Phoenix police spokesman Tommy Thompson confirmed the man had filed a report and that they are investigating the allegation.
The man wrote on Facebook that the incident started with a girl flicking her cigarette into his car and calling him a derogatory name. He reported on Facebook that he was punched and someone kicked him in the face when he fell down.
He said on Facebook that he had a broken nose, swollen face and bruised body. Police have retrieved the cigarette butt, according to Thompson.
